Week by week

What you'll learn

Each session starts with a 15-minute demo, then you're at your own wheel with the teacher moving between students.

  1. Week 1

    Centering

Wedging, sitting at the wheel, and the one skill everything else depends on.

  2. Week 2

    Cylinders

Opening, pulling walls and keeping them even. Expect a few collapses; that's the lesson.

  3. Week 3

    Bowls

Wider forms, compressing the floor, and cutting pots off cleanly.

  4. Week 4

    Trimming

Turning last week's pots upside down to carve a foot ring.

  5. Week 5

    Mugs & handles

Pulling a handle and attaching it so it stays on through the kiln.

  6. Week 6

    Glazing

Dipping, layering and choosing from 14 studio glazes. Glazed pots are ready about a week later.

Is it for you?

Good fit if…

  • You've never used a wheel, or tried once and gave up
  • You can make six weeks in a row (one make-up allowed)
  • You're happy to end up with imperfect, very real pots

Or maybe not

Not the right class if…

You already center and pull walls comfortably. Try Handles, spouts & lids or an open studio membership instead.

Questions

Before you hold a seat

Why no payment right now?

We'd rather you hold a seat and check your calendar. You'll get an email with a payment link; if you don't pay within 48 hours, the seat goes back on the list.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, in full up to 7 days before the first session. After that we can move you to the next cohort once.

Is there an age limit?

The course is for anyone 16 and over. We run separate family workshops on Sundays.

Can I come with a friend?

Of course. Book two seats in the same cohort and add a note when you pay; we'll put your wheels side by side.
